Bodoland University in North East India offers Diploma in Bamboo Technology

Bodoland-University-AdmissionStudents seeking a Diploma in Bamboo Technology can now enroll as an ‘Add on’ course under the aegis of the Department of Biotechnology at Bodoland University. Sponsored by the Agriculture Department, Bodoland Territorial Council Secretariat, Kokrajhar.

The primary aim of the course is to motivate students for self-employment, as well as to carry out extensive research in various aspects of bamboo with particular emphasis in bamboo cultivation and germplasm conservation. The course is of one year and is divided into two semesters: 1st Semester has 3 (three) theory and 1 (one) practical paper 2nd Semester has 2 (two) theory and 1 (one) practical paper.

Candidates possessing degree in Science/ Engineering from a recognised university are eligible to apply for the Diploma course. Candidates are selected from all over the country on the basis of the marks obtained at the qualifying examinations by preparation of state-wise merit list. Preference in admission is given to candidates sponsored by industries or organizations. Upper age limit is 28 years as on 1st January of the course year. Relaxation in 5 (five) year limit for ST/SC/PH is as per the Government of India rules. There is, however no age limit for sponsored candidates and class 10+2 passed from any recognised board along with 10 (Ten) years experience from Bamboo industries/ organization.
